Rescue Care paramedics were called to South Coast Road just after Kenyon Howden Road just after 8am this morning for a serious collision.
On arrival paramedics found that two cars, a truck and a taxi had collided leaving multiple people injured. More resources were called to assist with the number of casualties. The driver and front seat passenger in the taxi were severely entrapped and Fire department utilised the jaws of life to free the two. Advanced Life Support intervention was needed to stabilize the front seat passenger whilst fire fighters worked to free her from the wreckage. Once the two were freed they were stabilized on the scene with the other ten patients before being transported by various ambulances to various Durban hospitals for the further care that they required.
It is unclear what caused the collision however the necessary authorities were on the scene and will be investigating further.
Traffic was severely affected whilst emergency personal worked to free the injured.
