At around 6am this morning our Bloemfontein paramedics were called to the scene of house fire on Jappie Nesser Street. The house was almost completely engulfed in flames and the family of 5 were outside watching their home being destroyed by the fire.
Paramedics arrived on scene and immediately began assessing the patients. The wife, two young children aged 2 and 7, and a 26 year old were all taken by ambulance to Rosepark Hospital, being treated en route for minor smoke inhalation injuries. The husband decided that he would go to the doctor at a later stage, rather choosing to remain behind at the scene until the Fire Department had left.
The extent of damage to the home is not yet known, and investigations into the cause of the fire will be conducted as necessary.
