Three people have died and three others are in a critical condition after a head-on collision on the R25 between Bronkhorst Spruit and Kalinin this morning. Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found some of the patients to be trapped in the mangled wreckages with accident debris spread over a large area of the road. The Netcare medical helicopter was activated to assist the ground crews with the critically injured people.
After the patients were stabilised on scene they airlifted one of them to a nearby hospital while the other patients were transported by ambulance to various hospitals for the care that they required.
