One person died while five others were injured, two of them children aged eleven and six, after a bakkie and a car collided head-on along the R33 about ten kilometers out of New Hanover this evening. Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain a subject for police comment.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found one man still trapped in the crumpled remains of his vehicle, after triaging they found that one person died on impact while five others sustained serious injuries.
After paramedics stabilised the injured on scene they transported them to hospitals in Pietermaritzburg for the care that they required.
