Rescue Care paramedics were called to a serious collision on Umhlatazana Road Clairwood just after 9am.
On arrival paramedics found that two bakkies had collided head on leaving one of the drivers entrapped in his wreckage. Paramedics immediately called for Rescue Services for assistance and began stabilizing the injured man. Two other people including the second driver had sustained serious injuries. The jaws of life had to be used to free the trapped driver. Once freed all three patients were stabilized on the scene before being transported by ambulance to various Durban hospitals for further care that they required.
It is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS will be investigating.
The roadway was closed whilst emergency personal worked to clear up the scene.
