Crisis Medical Paramedics responded to reports that a vehicle had rolled down a bank off Newlands West Drive, Durban at around 10am this morning.

Paramedics arrived on scene to find the vehicle some distance from the roadway where a woman was found in a critical condition. Rescue Care ALS Paramedic, Garrith Jamieson was called to assist with the woman’s injuries. The decision was made to place her on a manual ventilator to manage her airway. It is believed that she had suffered serious head and spinal injuries. She was then placed on a spinal board to immobilise her from any further injuries before being taken to a waiting Crisis Medical Ambulance where she was then transported to hospital in a critical condition.

Eye witnesses suggest that the woman who was a passenger in the vehicle which lost control, hit a pavement and then rolled repeatedly down the embankment at which time the woman was ejected from the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was lucky to escape with no injuries.

SAPS were on scene to determine the exact cause of the incident.
