Netcare 911 paramedics, its rescue unit and other services responded to a crash on Ontdekkers Road in Newlands, Roodepoort yesterday evening.
Upon their arrival on scene they found that a motor vehicle had rear-ended a light delivery vehicle, resulting in the driver of the light delivery vehicle sustaining serious injuries. The man was entrapped in the vehicle and the Jaws-of-Life was used to extricate him from his vehicle.
After the man was treated on scene he was transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care.
Exact details to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
