Man seriously injured in Richards Bay when injured inside the cargo hold area of a vessel in the harbour

Netcare 911 paramedics responded to an incident in the Richards Bay harbour last night.

Upon their arrival on scene they found that a forty-eight-year-old man had sustained serious injuries after he was injured inside the cargo hold area of a vessel in the harbour.

The man was lifted out of the cargo hold with assistance of slings and a crane while two paramedics assisted with the rescue.

The injured man was treated on scene before he was transported to a Netcare facility for the urgent medical care that he required.

Exact detail to the cause of the incident and preceding events are unknown and will remain the subject of an investigation.
