Netcare 911 paramedics responded to a fire in Munsieville, Krugersdorp late last night.
Upon their arrival on scene they found that a man and woman had sustained critical burn injuries after their home caught a light.
The critically injured man was airlifted by the Netcare1 helicopter to hospital, while the woman was rushed to hospital for further medical care.
Exact detail to the cause of the fire and preceding events will remain the subject of an investigation.
