Netcare 911 paramedics responded to a shooting incident on Dambuza Road, Edendale in Pietermaritzburg this morning after 04h30.
Upon their arrival on scene they found a man in a critical condition following the shooting incident.
The man was treated on scene before being rushed to hospital for further medical care.
Exact detail to the cause of the incident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
