Crisis Medical Paramedics responded to a 5 car collision on the N2 south bound, 2km after the M41 off ramp at around 19:45 this evening.
On arrival, paramedics found the wreckages of the vehicles strewn across the road. A quick assessment was done and it was established that 7 people had sustained injuries ranging from moderate to serious with 1 patent still entrapped in their vehicle. Ethekwini Fire and Rescue was called to the scene to extricate the injured man before being taken to hospital.
Paramedics worked to stabilise the injured before they were transported to various hospitals by Crisis Medical ambulance and other service providers.
At this stage it is unclear what caused the collision however it is suspected that a vehicle lost control causing the remaining vehicles to collided into one another. Traffic was severely disrupted while emergency personnel worked to clear the scene.
SAPS will determine the exact cause of the incident.
