A woman has given birth to a premature baby boy in the Franklin Roosevelt Park in Johannesburg West this afternoon.
The local provincial services arrived on scene to find that the woman had given birth to a tiny little baby boy which is believed to have been born prematurely. When they took him thorough to hospital, they determined that he weighed only 650 grams.
His littly body was icy cold and he was in a critical condition, but under care of the Advanced Life support paramedic, he responded well to treatment and he was transported by ambulance to Rahima Moosa Mother and Child hospital in Coronationville where the team in the neonatal team were waiting for his arrival.
The baby’s mother, who is believed to be in her early 20’s, was transported by a separate ambulance to the same hospital for further postnatal assessment and care.
