A tragic incident on the R26 near Bethlehem left a woman and three children injured when the vehicle they were traveling allegedly veered off the road and crashed.
It is understood that the woman is a caregiver for the children and they went to search for one of the children that apparently walked away from home earlier. According to one of the children in the vehicle the woman suffered a medical episode. One of the children stated that she tried to control the vehicle by grabbing hold of the steering wheel but was unsuccessful in doing so.
When paramedics arrived on the scene they found the three children with moderate injuries. They were treated on the scene before being taken to a nearby hospital. The woman was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Mediclinic Hoogland for further treatment.
No further information could be obtained regarding the child they were apparently searching for. The incident was handed over to the police.
