20131123-071159

Shortly after 8pm on Friday, ER24 paramedics responded to a scene of a crash on the N12 East at the Putfontein exit on Johannesburg’s East Rand.

On arrival paramedics found that a single light motor vehicle had rolled down the embankment, causing all three occupants to be ejected, with the vehicle coming to rest on top of an overflow canal.

A male in his late twenties was found in the nearby water side, and bystanders are believed to have pulled him out of the water. He was immediately assessed by paramedics and found to be in a serious condition. ER24 paramedics stabalised the man on scene and he was transported by ER24 to Tambo Memorial Hospital for further care.

The remaining two patients, a man and woman both in their early thirties, were assessed by paramedics and found to have suffered moderate injuries and were both transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance.

The details surrounding the cause and events leading up to the crash will need to be investigated by local authorities.
