A sixteen – year-old –boy is in a serious condition after a near drowning incident on the Umgababa main beach this afternoon at around 13h00. Reports indicate that the boy was swept out by a rip current and soon disappeared under the water. Life guards immediately raced into the water and managed to pull the victim to the beach where they started resuscitation.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and after the patient was stabilized they transported him to an area hospital for the care that he required.
