A man has sustained near-drowning symptoms after he was trapped on a sand bank in the Durban harbour this afternoon. Reports indicate that the fishermen was on a sand bank trying to pump for sand prawns when for unknown reasons he ended up submerged in the water.
Local fishermen spotted the man and pulled him into their boat, they brought him to the Wilsons wharf area where paramedics from Netcare was standing by to assist the man. After he was stabilized on scene they transported the man to Addington hospital for the care that he required.
