Just after 8am this morning Rescue Care paramedics were called to Berea Train Station for two passenger trains that had collided.
First to arrive on the scene paramedics had to walk quite a distance to the scene. Fearing the worst paramedics were relieved when they discovered that fortunately the trains were not full. A total of eleven patients including the two drivers had sustained various injuries. All of the injured were stabilized on the scene before being transported to various Durban Hospitals for further care that they required. One patient was hoisted up onto Leopald Road before being loaded into an ambulance.
It is unclear what caused the collision however all the necessary authorities were on the scene and will be investigating further.
