A rear-end accident along the N3 on Town hill, Pietermaritzburg has left a man seriously injured while another escaped with minor injuries. Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found the passenger of one of the vehicles still trapped in the twisted frame of the vehicle. While Firemen used Hydraulic rescue equipment to free the injured, paramedics had to clamber into the vehicle to stabilise the patient.
Emergency services worked fervently for about forty-five minutes to free the injured man. After the patients were stabilised and skillfully immobilized on a trauma boards, paramedics transported them to an area hospital for the care that they required.
