A man in his thirties was left in a serious condition on Saturday evening, after being struck by a light motor vehicle on the R21 North before the Olifantsfontein exit in Kempton Park on Johannesburg’s East Rand.
ER24 paramedics arrived on scene and found the gentleman lying in the outer right lane of the highway. Members of the SAPS North Rand Flying Squad had kept the man safe from passing vehicles prior to the arrival of paramedics.
Immediately paramedics assessed the man and found that he had suffered extensive injuries and was in a serious condition. While the man was being stabilised a medical helicopter was called to the scene.
The man was airlifted from scene to a Johannesburg hospital for further care. The driver and occupants of the light motor vehicle were left uninjured.
Big thank you to SAPS North Rand Flying Squad and other services for their assistance on scene.
