Netcare 911 paramedics and the Fire department responded to a building fire on Fuchs Street in Alrode Alberton this morning.
Upon their arrival on scene they found a man in a critical condition after sustaining severe burn wounds.
The Netcare1 helicopter was activated to airlift the man to hospital for the urgent medical care that he required.
Exact detail to the cause of the fire incident and preceding event are unknown and will be the subject of an investigation.
