A collision between two taxis and a car have left seventeen people with various injuries this morning at the intersection of Berea Road and Essenwood Road just after 9am.
Rescue Care and ER24 paramedics arrived on scene to find that the three vehicles had collided in the junction before one of the taxi’s rolled down Berea Road ejecting many of its passengers. Paramedics found passengers laying all across the road and immediately called for more resources to be sent to assist with the multiple patient scene. Six patients suffered serious injuries whilst eleven sustained minor to moderate injuries. Once all of the injured were stabilized they were transported by various ambulances to various Durban Hospitals for the care that they required.
At this stage it is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating the matter further.
Traffic was severely affected as Berea Road incoming was closed whilst emergency personal worked to clear the scene.
