Eleven commuters were injured when their taxi overturned several times on the M13 near Pietermaritzburg yesterday afternoon.
Responding ER24 paramedics found most of the occupants ejected from the taxi.
Five of the commuters sustained serious injuries while the rest had minor injures.
One of the passengers was an infant whose mother sustained minor injuries while he was left uninjured.
All patients were treated on scene and transported to nearby hospitals for further medical care.
The collision apparently occurred when one of the taxi’s wheels came loose causing it to overturn.
The exact cause of the collision is under investigation.
