Paramedics from KZN Emergency Medical Services and emergency services on the KZN North Coast have responded to an accident involving a minibus which reportedly overturned, on the R66 between Eshowe and Melmoth near Nwalini, earlier today.
Paramedics from KZN EMS as well as medics from several private ambulance services responded to the scene and when assessing the injured patients discovered that tragically one person had sustained fatal injuries and that another 14 patients had sustained injuries ranging from severe to critical. The paramedics worked together to treat the patients on scene, providing the required medical care before transporting the patients to Ngwelezane and Eshowe hospitals for continued medical care.
The exact cause of the accident and the events preceding the minibus overturning, is being investigated by the police and further comment on the cause of the accident will be for Police and Department of Transport comment.
