Two people were killed and two others sustained critical injuries when a Venture bakkie overturned along the R59 near Vereeniging this morning.
ER24 and other emergency services arrived on the buys scene where the deceased man and woman lay approximately 20 meters from the vehicle. They were ejected and killed on impact.
One of the critically injured patients was a seven-year-old boy who was ejected approximately 30 meters from the vehicle as it overturned. He was flown by ER24’s helicopter to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital for urgent medical care.
The second critically injured patient, a 38-year-old woman was removed from the vehicle by bystanders on scene before paramedics’ arrival.
The five other patients on scene sustained minor to moderate injuries in the collision.
It is unclear how this collision occurred but bystander ps told paramedics that the driver of the vehicle lost control and it overturned multiple times.
The incident is under investigation by local authorities.
