A 93year old lady is in a critical condition in a Hillcrest Hospital after her house caught alight just before 9am this morning in Kiora Road in the Bluff, Durban.
Rescue Care paramedics received numerous calls for medical assistance and dispatched an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle. On arrival paramedics found the house to be engulfed in flames. Fire fights were working to put the fire out. Paramedics found the 93 year old lady on the verge outside in a critical condition. The patient had sustained severe burns and Advanced Life Support paramedics had to place the lady on a manual ventilator. Once she had been stabilized on the scene she was rushed to a Hillcrest Hospital for the further care that she required.
At this stage it is unclear what caused the fire however the Fire Department and the SAPS were investigating.
