Wall collapses, trapping man in in Clairemont

A 30-year-old man is in a critical condition after a wall collapsed on him late yesterday afternoon at a residence on Laurier Road in Clairemont, Western Cape.

When ER24 paramedics, as well as other services, arrived on scene they found the patient lying beneath a large wall.

Metro services had to close off the area to a allow paramedics and rescue workers to work safely.

Emergency personnel worked to free the patient while paramedics began their treatment.

Once freed from beneath the wall, paramedics provided the patient with advanced life support and thereafter transported him to Vincent Pallotti Hospital for further medical treatment.

The cause of the incident is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
