Five people were injured following an accident on the R102 near Umhlali this afternoon in Kwa-Zulu Natal.
Upon arrival on scene, Netcare 911 paramedics and other services found that two motor vehicles and one heavy goods vehicle were involved in the accident. A light delivery vehicle left the roadway and crashed against a tree following the collision. The heavy goods vehicle also left the roadway and came to a standstill the grass area next to the roadway.
Upon assessment of all occupants of the three vehicles, it was found that two people sustained serious injuries and three people sustained minor to moderate injuries.
All the injured patients were treated on scene, the patients were transported to hospital for further medical care.
Exact detail surrounding the accident and preceding events are still unclear and will remain the subject of a police investigation.
