Paramedics have just completed treating two people who were injured when a car and a truck collided on the Phoenix hiway earlier this morning.
The collision was reportedly a head on collision, left the driver of the small car critically injured as well is entrapped in the car which was extensively damaged as the truck had a bull bar attached. The other occupant of the car was seriously injured and transported to hospital by paramedic’s from a private ambulance service.
The 39 year old, driver of the car who was in a critical condition was treated by paramedics from KZN EMS for the various traumatic injuries that he had sustained. The severally damaged vehicle was trapping the man inside the wreck. Rescuers from the Durban fire department preformed a complicated extrication, using several different rescue tools to shear and cut the vehicle way from the patient, so that he could be freed from the crumpled car.
Advanced life supports paramedics who had been treated him, while he was entrapped, transported him to hospital for on going medical care.
The exact cause of the collision are not known at this stage and are being investigated by the police
