Six people including a nine month old baby were injured in a three car pile up on Tara Road and Amoora Road in Wentworth on Sunday evening around 8:30pm.
Rescue Care paramedics arrived on the scene to find the entire roadway obstructed by the three vehicle involved. One patient was found entrapped in the wreckage and Durban Fire department was called to assist. Once she had been freed from the vehicle using the jaws of life and other hydraulic equipment she was carefully extricated onto a specialized board to prevent any further injury. A further five people including a nine month old had also sustained injuries as a result of the collision. Once all of the injured had been stabilized they were transported by ambulances to various Durban hospitals for the further care that they required.
At this stage it is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
