One person died and three others were left with several injuries after their car overturned on the R31 outside of Kimberley.
Shortly before 23:00 paramedics from ER24 Kimberley arrived on the scene where they found the wreckage several meters into an open veld next to the road. It appeared as if the vehicle overturned several times, ejecting one of its occupants.
Paramedics found the ejected man in the veld with critical chest injuries. They [paramedics] rapidly stabilised him on the scene and rushed him Kimberley Provincial Hospital for further medical treatment. On route to hospital the man sadly lost all signs of life and paramedics initiated CPR. They managed to regain a pulse but sadly the man later succumbed to his injuries.
The three other occupants of the vehicle were treated by various services on the scene and also rushed to Kimberley Hospital.
The exact cause of the incident is not yet known.
