One person died and four others were left with multiple injuries when their Toyota Hilux collided with a tree on the R720 during the early hours of this morning.
Shortly after midnight paramedics from ER24 were dispatched to the scene where they found a Toyota Hilux that crashed into a tree along the R720 approximately five kilometres outside of Steynsburg. A man in his twenties was found outside the vehicle with fatal injuries. It is believed that he was ejected during the collision.
Upon further assessment they [paramedics] found four others with multiple injuries, ranging from lacerations and fractures. The occupants in the vehicle were extricated from the vehicle and stabilised on the scene and later transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care.
The exact cause of the incident is not yet known. The incident was handed over to the local police for further investigation.
