A rear-end accident involving three motor vehicles left five people injured on the N12 just before Stilfontein this afternoon.
Netcare 911 paramedics and other services arrived at the scene and found the three vehicles still stationary on the roadway.
Upon assessment of the occupants of all three vehicles, they found a man, woman, nine-month-old baby and a two-year-old child were in a serious condition following the accident. Fortunately both children were secured in their seats in the back of the vehicle. An occupant from one of the other vehicles were also found to have sustained injury during the accident.
All five patients were treated on scene before they were transported to hospital for further medical care.
Exact detail surrounding the cause of the rear-end accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
