A five-year-old girl is in a critical condition after she was hit by a light motor vehicle on the R617 in Mafakathini in Boston, KwaZulu Natal.
ER24 paramedics were alerted to the call and were informed to meet the patient halfway to hospital.
While driving, paramedics were flagged down on route and was handed a young girl who had been hit by the vehicle.
On assessment, paramedics discovered that the young patient had sustained severe injuries to her face, chest and legs.
Paramedics treated the patient and provided her with advanced life support while transporting her to Edendale Hospital for further treatment.
It is believed that the girl failed to notice the oncoming vehicle before she was hit. The driver and occupants of the vehicle stopped, placed her in the vehicle and rushed off to meet the ER24 paramedics.
