A baby, believed to be one year old, was left in a critical condition after a head on collision in Fouriesburg, Free State. Four other people sustained several injuries.
At approximately 20:30 on Saturday evening, paramedics found a Golf and a Nissan Xtrail that collided head on with each other. The driver of the Golf sustained serious injuries and had to be freed with the Jaws of Life from the vehicle. The baby was also found in the vehicle with critical injuries.
The driver of the Xtrail sustained only moderate injuries in the collision.
All of the occupants from the Golf were stabilised on the scene before being transported to Mediclinic Hoogland and Dihlabeng Hospital respectively.
The exact cause of the incident is not yet known.
