N2 north Queen Nandi drive road crash leaves two injured

Two people were injured, one critically so after a car and a taxi collided on the N2 north near the Queen Nandi Drive this evening. A report from the scene indicates that the vehicle was traveling along the North bound lane and collided with a stationary taxi. Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.

Netcare 911 paramedics and their rescue unit arrived at the scene and found the passenger of the vehicle still trapped in the twisted frame of the car, the driver was still seated in the vehicle. After triaging they found that the driver had sustained serious injuries while his passenger sustained life threatening injuries.

While the rescue officer used the Jaws of Life to free the critically wounded man paramedics clambered into the wreckage to stabilise the two patients. After they were extricated paramedics placed the passenger on a ventilator , and after both patients were immobilised on trauma boards , they were transported to various hospitals for the care that they required. The occupants from the taxi were uninjured.
