Traffic is severely affected due to a multiple vehicle accident that took place approximately 500 meters from the Buccleuch interchange on the N1 near Allandale Road.
There is currently one lane closed on the south bound and three lanes have been closed on the north bound. Traffic travelling from all areas around the interchange have been affected. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes to reach their destinations.
Reports from the scene indicate that a motor vehicle travelling on the south bound left the roadway, crossed the centre median and came to a standstill on the north bound roadway.
The driver from the vehicle was found to be in a critical condition and after receiving treatment on scene, he was rushed to hospital for further medical care.
Exact detail surrounding the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
