Motorist facing attempted murder charge after allegedly firing a shot at a fellow motorist

A Zeekoevlei motorist is facing an attempted murder charge after allegedly firing a shot at a fellow motorist. The incident happened on Wednesday, 11 February 2015 at 10:25am on the corner of Jan Smuts Drive and Ottery roads next to the Ottery Fire Station.

According to the complainant, he was driving behind a vehicle whose driver was busy on a Tablet A4 while driving and almost caused an accident. The complainant signalled to the motorist to stop. He approached the man and asked him what he was doing by using the device while driving.

The suspect took out a firearm and shot at the complainant but missed. The complainant reported a case of attempted murder at the Lansdowne SAPS. Yesterday(Thursday 2015-02-12), after an investigation, a 30 year old suspect was arrested at his home in Curly Road, Zeekoevlei and the firearm, a black and silver Taurus 9mm, was confiscated with a magazine containing 16 live rounds.

The suspect will appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court soon.
