A man and his five-year-old son has tragically lost their lives during a light aircraft crash near the R59 near Parys this afternoon.
Netcare 911 paramedics received the call for assistance at 15h45 following the crash and upon arrival found a light aircraft lying in a field near the R59. A large area was covered with aircraft debris following the crash.
Upon assessment they found that the plane had two occupants and that both a man and young boy lost their lives during the crash. There was nothing further that paramedics could do for the two occupants.
Exact detail surrounding the cause of the crash and preceding events will remain the subject of a Civil Aviation Authority investigation.
