A twenty-nine-year-old man was injured after a motor vehicle rear-ended a stationery vehicle on the N3 in Edenvale.
Netcare 911 paramedics drove across the accident and stopped to assist the injured patient. Upon assessment they found that the man had sustained serious injuries and he was treated at the scene, immobilised on a trauma board and transported to hospital for further medical care.
The occupant of the vehicle that was rear-ended fortunately escaped unharmed.
Exact detail surrounding the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
Traffic was not affected as a result of the accident.
