A 24-year-old man is in a serious condition this afternoon after he fell from a height of 5 metres while on a ship in Cape Town harbour.
ER24 paramedics arrived on scene and found the male patient lying on the deck of the ship. Fellow crew members were standing around the patient, offering the patient basic first aid.
On assessment, paramedics discovered that the patient had sustained serious injuries to his legs and pelvis.
Advanced life support intervention was provided to the patient before he was transported to a private hospital for urgent medical treatment.
It is believed that the man had lost his footing while working on top of a stack of containers.
