Three people have died and twelve have been injured 4 seriously so after a taxi lost control and crashed into a building on Dinkelman Highway near Clermont around 3pm today.
Rescue Care paramedics arrived on the scene to find the taxi had somehow lost control and crashed through a fence into a building. Many of the passengers had been ejected from the vehicle and were found scattered around the wreckage. Paramedics called for more ambulances as well as Advanced Life Support units to assist with the mass casualty scene. Three people had passed away before paramedics could arrived and a further twelve had sustained various injuries. Four of the twelve sustained serious injuries and once all of the injured had been stabilized they were transported to various Durban Hospitals for the further care that they required.
At this stage it is unclear what caused the single vehicle to lose control however the SAPS Collision unit were in attendance and will be investigating further.
