Children injured when underage 17 Year-old taxi driver loses control, crashes into house

Ten children and two adults were injured this morning after a taxi left the road and drove through a wall and crashed into a house on Lydia Road in Kempton Park, Johannesburg.

When ER24 paramedics arrived on scene, they found that a taxi had driven through a residence wall and came to rest against the house.

Twelve people had been inside the taxi in the collision, ten of them children aged between four and twelve. Paramedics assessed the patients and found that all twelve occupants had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate.

Paramedics treated the patients for their injuries and thereafter transported them to Thembisa Hospital for further observations.

The 17-year-old taxi driver allegedly stated that the brakes failed, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigation.
