One person has been killed and another sustained moderate injuries after a two vehicle collided on the M13 Durban Bound near Blair Atholl offramp in Westville Durban just before 8pm last night.
Rescue Care paramedics arrived on the scene to find that two vehicles had collided on the Durban bound carriage way before both overturning and ending up on the side of the busy freeway. Paramedics found that both the drivers were injured. One of the drivers had sustained critical injuries and was placed on a manual ventilator on the scene by Rescue Care’s Advanced Life Support Paramedic. The injured male was then rushed through to Chief Inkosi Albert Luthuli Hospital where a trauma team was awaiting his arrival. Unfortunately his injuries were to severe and he passed away a short while later at hospital. The second driver sustained moderate injuries and was transported by Rescue Care to a nearby hospital for the further care that they required.
At this stage it is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS were in attendance and will be investigating further.
