A 46-year-old man is in a serious condition after his vehicle collided with a tree on Hanekom Road in Benoni last night.
At approximately 10pm paramedics from ER24 as well as local Fire and Rescue Services arrived on the scene where they found the man still trapped behind the steering wheel of his vehicle. The rescuers had to use the jaws of life to free the man from the vehicle.
Paramedics treated him for multiple injuries on the scene before rushing him through to Life Glynnwood Hospital for further medical treatment.
The exact cause of the collision is not yet known, however it is understood that the driver allegedly lost control while traveling through a bend on Hanekom Road near Northmead swimming pool. The exact cause will be investigated.
The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle.
