One person was injured following an accident on De Waal Street in Brackendown, Alberton this morning.
Netcare 911 paramedics and other services arrived at the scene and found that a motor vehicle had crashed against a tree. As a result of the impact, the driver was entrapped in the vehicle and services had to make use of the Jaws of Life to extricate the entrapped occupant from the vehicle. The extrication operation took almost an hour to complete.
Upon extrication, the critically injured patient was removed from the vehicle, treated at the scene and transported to hospital for further medical care.
Exact detail surrounding the cause of the crash and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
