A fire has destroyed several informal dwellings near Port Shepstone.
A fire, the cause of which is at this stage not known, has destroyed several informal dwellings in Mkholombe, near Port Shepstone, earlier today.
Emergency services including the Police, KZN EMS paramedics and fire fighters from the Hibiscus Coast Fire Department and Ugu District Disaster Management, responded to the fire. The blaze completely destroyed several informal dwellings, what were clustered together. Fortunately the blaze was contained to about five dwellings and didn’t spread to adjacent structures.
No one was injured in the fire, which drew a large crowd of on lookers, who watched the fire fighters extinguish the fire. The fire fighters had to cool down two gas cylinders, what were found in the debris, which fortunately had not exploded.
