Seventeen people were injured following a rollover accident on the N12 just before Putfontein towards Springs this evening.
Netcare 911 paramedics and other services arrived at the scene and found that a minibus had overturned and came to a standstill on its side.
Upon assessment of the occupants, paramedics found that one person was in a critical condition while sixteen other commuters sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious.
The Netcare1 helicopter was activated to airlift the critically injured person to hospital for the urgent medical care required. The remaining sixteen patients were treated at the scene and transported to various hospitals for further medical treatment.
Reports from the scene indicate that the minibus overturned as a result of a burst tyre. However the exact detail surrounding the cause of the rollover accident and preceding evens will remain the subject of a police investigation.
