Two men have sustained serious injuries after a head on collision on the N2 North bound near Nandi in Durban a short while ago.
Rescue Care paramedics arrived on the scene to find that two vehicles had collided head on obstructing most of the busy highway with one lying on its side. Both drivers were found entrapped in their vehicles and rescue services were dispatched. Whilst Durban Fire Department worked to free the men Advanced Life Support paramedics stabilized the two men. The jaws of life and other hydraulic equipment was used to free the men. Once the two men had been cut free they were carefully extricated from the vehicles before being transported to nearby hospitals for the further care that they required.
At this stage it is unclear what caused the collision however it is alleged that one of the vehicles somehow lost control and veered through the centre medium colliding with the other vehicle. SAPS were on scene and will be investigating further.
