Summergreens, a suburb in Milnerton, was in the sights of Operation Fiela this morning with special emphasis on drugs and related criminal activity. SAPS members, assisted by other law enforcement agencies, approached pre-identified residences during the early hours and conducted search operations, while a vehicle check point was conducted at the only entrance and exit to the neighbourhood. The presence of police was exceptionally well received by law abiding citizens who reported illegal activity spontaneously.
During the operation 55 premises, 82 vehicles and 196 persons were searched which resulted in the arrest of three male suspects in their thirties for being in possession of 1kg tik with a street value of R275 000-00 and the arrest of a 45-year-old man who had 2g of cocaine in his possession. With the assistance of the Department of Home Affairs, 34 undocumented persons were also arrested.
Once charged, the arrested suspects will make a court appearance in Cape Town.
