A shooting at the mine dump near the N12 Putfontein, Benoni has left two children injured this morning.
ER24 paramedics were alerted to the scene by bystanders, and on their arrival, they discovered two children, girls aged 7 and 11, on the side of the road.
Paramedics assessed both girls and found that they had sustained minor to moderate injuries to their legs, due to the ricochets from the bullets.
Paramedics treated the patients for their injuries and thereafter transported them to Far East Rand Hospital for urgent treatment.
The cause of the shooting is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
